Timing

Barbados has two weather seasons - wet and dry.
Wet season runs from June until October (as we say in Barbados - "June too soon, October all over!") and tropical rainstorms sometimes occur during this time.
The Barbados tourism industry also has two seasons - high and low.
High season runs from December until April, and if you choose to marry during high season, you'll want to reserve hotel blocks and venues immediately and send out save-the-dates 10 to 12 months in advance so guests can book their flights and accommodations before prices skyrocket. If you choose the shoulder season (right after high season), you may be able to save yourself and your guests some money and still enjoy great weather. While the off-season will mean fewer crowds, the weather can be iffy, and you may find that many stores, venues and vendors close up shop.

The ‘rumshop’ is as much a Barbadian cultural staple as cricket, rum and calypso music. With thousands dotted across this little island, a rumshop can be loosely defined as a Barbadian watering hole that also sells food and basic groceries. There is one on every corner in villages and towns; a local hangout to eat, drink, dance, play dominoes and argue about politics. Visitors to the island are more than welcome to pop into any rumshop, at any time of the day or night, to get a taste of the Barbadian way of life. Here are a few of our favourites to check out:

Although scenic to explore by horseback or jeep, the Eastern beaches are not preferred for swimming, so do be careful! Here are our favourite beaches in Barbados:
